soundalikes
Back to composers Home
More and more frequently Mike and the Artemis Music team are asked to create ‘soundalikes’ of well-known tracks. Sometimes this can mean creating a new recording of an existing track, whilst at other times the brief is to create an original piece based on an existing one that is as close in style, mood and feel as copyright laws will allow.

Song 1: Evergreen
This track is an 'homage' to the Barbra Streisand original.

Song 2: American Patrol
Through his production company Artemis Music Mike has the facility to reduce faithfully some of the classics of the Big Band and Swing eras.

Song 3: How Do I Live
Here the brief was to re-create as faithfully as possible Diane Warren's classic from the 90's as performed by LeAnn Rimes.

Song 4: Respect
This song offered some unique production challenges, as well as the near-impossible task of re-creating the voice of Aretha Franklin at her best. Listen closely and you'll hear that the voices are panned off to the sides - just as they are in the original.

Song 5: Mr Big Stuff
Commissioned by Director Jane Hilton for the BBC series 'Love for Sale', this track is loosely based on the Jean Knight original and features the vocal talents of Sarah Eyden.

Song 6: We've Only Just Begun
And how do you begin to recreate the amazing voice of Karen Carpenter? Well, the answer is that you can't, but you can get pretty close. It was a lot of fun doing the backing vocals, and the team doing these consisted of Mike joined by Mary Carewe and Miriam Stockley - coincidentally the two voices behind the original Adiemus project.
